Vietjet Air and Pratt & Whitney have signed an agreement for the PW1100G-JM PurePower Geared Turbofan (GTF) engine to power the 63 Airbus A320neo and A321neo aircraft which the airline has on order.
“We are delighted to choose the PurePower Geared Turbofan engine. With their advanced design that reduces fuel consumption and CO2 emissions, these new engines will boost our efficiency and enhance our ability to protect the environment as well as enable Vietjet to offer passengers more affordable ticket fares,” said Vietjet president & CEO Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao at the signing ceremony.
“We take great pride in Vietjet selecting the game-changing Geared Turbofan engine to power their aircraft fleet,” added Pratt & Whitney’s senior vice-president Rick Deurloo.
