Dubai Aerospace Enterprise (DAE) has signed a firm order with ATR for 20 ATR 72-600s with options for 20 more of the type, the deal being the lessor’s first order for regional aircraft.
The 20 firm aircraft are scheduled for delivery between 2015 and 2018 and will make DAE the first ATR lessor in the Middle East.
“The firm aircraft are almost all committed to customers,” noted Khalifa AlDaboos, managing director of DAE, “so the options are likely to be confirmed during 2014. The customers are from a variety of countries and most are already in this business.”
AlDaboos confirmed that the aircraft would mainly be delivered in a single-class configuration.
Asked about interest in the larger turboprop that ATR has been planning, AlDaboos reported that he will be discussing the potential with customers to gather their thoughts and requirements.
