SINGAPORE 2012: Embraer announces more E-Jets for Azul; new operator Belavia

Embraer’s president of commercial aviation, Paulo Cesar de Silva e Souza, announced at the show that Azul has firmed up 10 options for Embraer 195s, while new operator Belavia has confirmed that it is to lease two E-175s.

The deliveries to Azul will be made from 2015 and the orders take the carrier’s fleet commitment to 67 E-Jets, 62 of which have been purchased directly from the manufacturer.

Belavia’s move comes as part of a fleet renewal initiative to replace smaller-capacity equipment and older, larger capacity aircraft. The airline is leasing the two E-175s from Air Lease Corporation and the first is expected to be delivered in September 2012. They will be configured with 12 business class and 64 economy class seats.

Discussing the manufacturer’s expectations for the Asia-Pacific market, Cesar said that in the 30-120 seat market, the region is forecast to take 1,590 aircraft over the 2011-2030 period, with 695 deliveries in the first 10 years and 985 deliveries in the subsequent decade.
