S7 Technics says its aircraft engine repair shop at Moscow Domodedovo Airport has expanded its capabilities for MRO services on CFM56-5B/7B engines due to increasing demand in Russia and the CIS.

The facility now has approval for complete disassembly and reassembly of the engines, which power Airbus A320 family and Boeing 737 aircraft. S7 said the facility was now able to carry out repairs of high and low-pressure compressor and turbine units, replacement of combustion chambers, high-pressure turbine nozzles and other units.

In this move to the next level in engine MRO, the company was assisted by its long-time partner, Swiss SR Technics, it added.

Alexey Starkov, head of S7 Technics’ engine repair shop, said: “One year into operations after launch in 2016 we realised that the demand for engine repair services in Russia and CIS market had surged. And there were some requests that were not covered by our capabilities. For instance, there were many requests for combustion chamber replacement or for works on the fan. So, we asked SR Technics to help us grow in that direction. As a result, we have acquired additional competencies, allowing us to completely disassemble engines and rectify the defects.”

S7 Technics Holding’s facilities are certified by EASA, Bermuda DCA, the Russian Aviation Authority and a number of other national authorities to carry out maintenance for different types of Boeing, Airbus, Embraer and Sukhoi Civil Aircraft airliners.
