S7 Technic’s paint shop in southern Russia has confirmed a large order from its parent company S7 Airlines to carry out the painting of new liveries on 17 of the carrier’s aircraft by April.

The facility in Mineralnye Vody will paint Airbus A320 and Boeing 737-800 aircraft into the airline’s new brand livery, still an eye-catching signature green but tweaked from the previous version and with no darker passenger silhouettes on the fuselage. A first batch of aircraft were redelivered to the carrier at the end of last year.

S7 Technics says its technicians are using a new enamel on the aircraft, not used in the previous livery. “In terms of material, the main difference between the new livery and the previous one is that the new S7 Airlines’ livery requires application of an enamel with MICA effect,” said Danil Naumenko, deputy director at the painting facility.

“This material is more demanding in terms of the quality of its application and the painting team’s qualification. It also takes more time to dry between applying different layers. But its advantage is that this new enamel with MICA effect retains all of its features – for instance, a very beautiful play of colours – up to 7-8 years, not 5-6 years in case of finish enamel or the basecoat/clearcoat system”.

In early February it redelivered 11 aircraft freshly painted in the new livery to S7 Airlines.

S7 Technics Holding’s facilities are certified by EASA, Bermuda DCA, the Russian Aviation Authority and a number of other national authorities to carry out maintenance for different types of Boeing, Airbus, Embraer and Sukhoi Civil Aircraft airliners. The company is comprised of two MRO subsidiaries: S7 Engineering and Sibir Technics, which service aircraft at Moscow (DME), Novosibirsk (OVB) and Mineralnye Vody (MRV), as well as through several line outstations across Russia.
