Ryanair has announced its May traffic statistics, with the number of booked passengers (rather than flown passengers as refunds are rarely given for no-shows and the airline considers the seat flown in such cases) grew by 300,000 to 8.2m customers, a rise of 4%.
The May load factor increased by 3 percentage points from 82% in May 2013 to 85%.
On a rolling 12 month basis, for the period ending 31 May 2014, annual traffic rose to a record 82.3 million booked customers, up 3%.
Ryanair’s chief marketing officer, Kenny Jacobs, commented, “Ryanair traffic grew by 300,000 to 8.2 million customers in May. We are especially pleased with the 3 pp improvement in May’s load factor, which is slightly ahead of our 2 pp growth target.”
