Ryanair first airline to carry 10m international pax in one month

With the release of its traffic data for July 2015, Ryanair is claiming to be the first carrier to have ever carried over 10 million international passengers in one month, even though the airline only publishes the number of booked seats flown as no-shows are mostly non-refundable.The airline saw a year-on-year passenger growth from July 2014 of 11%, from 9.15 million to 10.14 million, which contributed to a 4% load factor increase from 91% to 95% across the respective periods.Furthermore, Ryanair’s rolling annual traffic in the twelve months to 31 July 2015 rose by 15% – to 95.3 million customers – in comparison to the previous year.“We carried more customers in one month (10.14m in July) than Aer Lingus carried in a whole year (9.77m in 2014),” commented Kenny Jacobs, Ryanair’s CMO. “These record customer numbers and highest ever load factors are due to our lower fares, our stronger forward bookings and the continuing success of our ‘Always Getting Better’ customer experience programme, which continues to deliver stronger than expected traffic and load factors on our biggest ever summer schedule.”
