Ryanair continues Budapest expansion

Ryanair, which previously announced that it will open a new base in Budapest on 17 February, has decided to further expand its plans with a fifth based aircraft to be added on 26 March, plus another new route to Tampere and additional frequencies to Brussels, Eindhoven, Gothenburg, Madrid, Milan, Rome, Stockholm and Thessaloniki.

Ryanair’s CEO Michael O’Leary commented, “Ryanair will be investing more than $350 million in its new five aircraft Budapest base, and thanks to the exceptional support of Budapest Airport and the Hungarian Government, Ryanair’s base will open on time on 17 February next. The base will make up much of the traffic lost following Malev’s closure.”
