Ryanair is to open its fifth German base at Cologne in October 2014 with one based aircraft and five additional routes – to Dublin, London Stansted, Madrid, Riga and Rome Ciampino – tot take the number of destinations from the airport to eight in total.
On commencement of the base, Ryanair will be offering 86 weekly flights from Cologne and expects to carry more than 700,000 customers a year.
In Cologne, Ryanair’s chief marketing officer, Kenny Jacobs remarked, “Ryanair is delighted to announce that we will be opening a new base at Cologne this winter. The state of North Rhein Westfalia is an important part of the European economy and we want to support bringing business travellers to do business, as well as tourists who want to visit a wonderful part of Germany.”
The full list of destinations from 26 October, with their weekly frequencies in parentheses, is: Dublin (14), London Stansted (28), Madrid (8), Malaga (6), Rome Ciampino (14), Riga (6), Palma (6) and Tenerife (4).
