Regional Express (Rex) has won the Regional Airline of the Year Award from the Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation (CAPA), for a record third time, having previously won the award in 2007 and 2008.
In presenting the award, Peter Harbison, executive chairman of CAPA, stated, “Rex has benefited from its superb commitment to regional areas in Australia during the hard times of recent drought, to be well positioned as the mining boom gathers pace and regional areas recover. Rex, under the leadership of Lim Kim Hai, continues to deliver excellent service and profits for shareholders. Among regional airlines in the Asia Pacific region, Rex continues to demonstrate keen leadership.”
Rex currently operates a fleet of more than 50 Saab 340s on around 1,300 weekly flights to 35 destinations throughout New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia and Queensland.
