RAA supports safety management system rule from FAA

Roger Cohen, president of the Regional Airline Association (RAA), has confirmed the association’s support of the final rule announcement from the FAA requiring US airlines to use safety management systems (SMS).
Cohen believes the rule has been made “in an effort to continue keeping [US] skies the safest in the world,” and emphasised that the RAA's 29 airline members were voluntarily implementing SMS long before it became a requirement.
“Aviation safety, by its very nature, is a shared responsibility, and many of our members participated in the FAA SMS pilot programme," Cohen continued, explaining that RAA members also continuously work closely with other aviation stakeholders to identify and inventory best practices and share this information collectively.
