Pegasus Airlines has announced that it carried 5.36 million passengers in the first quarter of 2016 (1Q16), an increase of 18.6% over the number carried in 1Q15.
The airline’s load factor in 1Q16 was 76.1% and the airline operated a total of 38,249 flights during the period.
In 1Q16, there was a 21.5% increase in domestic passenger numbers in Turkey to reach a total of 3.48 million, while for international passengers, numbers were up by 13.7% for a total of 1.88 million. In March alone, the airline carried 1.18 million customers on domestic routes in Turkey and 630,000 on international routes for a total monthly figure of 1.81 million.
Pegasus recorded a daily average of 12 block hours between January and March 2016, translating to a 3.9% year-on-year increase in aircraft utilisation for the same period.
Also in 1Q16, Pegasus added Jordan’s capital, Amman, and Azerbaijan’s Gabala to its expanding network, increasing its number of destinations to 33 in Turkey and 70 in the rest of the world, bringing its total network to 103 destinations in 41 countries.
