Norwegian expands MRO contracts with Lufthansa Technik

The Norwegian Group has extended and expanded the Total Base Maintenance Support (TBS) contract for its Boeing 737-800 fleet with Lufthansa Technik ahead of time as well as the MRO contract covering wheels and brakes on its Boeing 787s.ttThe two companies originally signed the TBS contract in 2012. Initially running over a period of five years, it has now been extended and expanded to cover the Norwegian Group’s future 737-800 fleet across Norwegian Air Shuttle, Norwegian Air International Ltd., Norwegian Air UK Ltd. and Norwegian Air Norway AS.ttFor the first time, Lufthansa Technik will also perform end-of-lease checks, initially on eleven aircraft.ttSimilarly, Norwegian has extended and expanded its 2013 wheels and brakes MRO contract with Lufthansa Technik – a Messier-Bugatti-Dowty Recommended Repair Center (RRC) for Boeing 787s – to include the 787-900 version of the aircraft, which the carrier plans to introduce from 2016. The contract previously only covered the eight 787-800s Norwegian currently has in operation.
