Spirit Airlines has brought forward the start date for daily flights on five of its ‘Fit Fleet’ routes, due to some aircraft being delivered sooner than expected. (The name ‘Fit Fleet’ refers to Spirit’s claim it has one of the youngest and most fuel efficient fleets in the industry.)
Between 24 October and 14 November, Spirit will begin operating its new aircraft on routes between Atlanta and Chicago O’Hare, Atlanta and Detroit, Chicago and New Orleans, Detroit and New Orleans and Boston and West Palm Beach. The Boston to West Palm Beach service will be seasonal.
"We're excited to add more brand-new Airbus A320s to our Fit Fleet,” announced Mark Kopczak, vice-president of network planning for Spirit Airlines. The new aircraft will join the airline’s existing 58 Airbus models.
Spirit is also set to launch another four new routes before the end of 2014.
