Flybe is to offer direct return flights between London Southend Airport and Maastricht Aachen Airport from 10 July 2014, operated by its franchise partner, Stobart Air.
In the first year of the route’s operation, Flybe intends to carry up to 25,000 passengers. This news comes just months after Ryanair pulled its London Stansted–Maastricht Aachen service.
Peter O’Mara, commercial and operations development manager at Stobart Air, commented, “We are delighted to announce our new Maastricht Aachen to London Southend service. This is Flybe’s first direct flight service from Maastricht Aachen to London. The service offers a low-cost flight to an airport which is only 53 minutes from the centre of London. Maastricht, Aachen and its region have a strong business community and the availability of return services to London Southend will provide convenience for many businesses in the area. For leisure passengers, the London Southend route provides a low-cost and hassle-free travel alternative to UK capital.”
From Monday to Friday between 10 July 2014 and 27 March 2015, flights will leave London Southend at 08:10 and land at Maastricht Aachen at 10:25. The return service from Maastricht Aachen will take off at 10:50 and reach London Southend at 10:55 (all times local).
Sunday services between 13 July 2014 and 22 March 2015 will depart London Southend at 08:30 and touch down at Maastricht Aachen at 10:45. After a 25-minute turnaround, the return flight will push back at 11:10 and land at London Southend at 11:15 (all times local).
