SkyWest Airlines has promoted Steve Black to the post of vice-president–customer service, succeeding Jim Boyd, who will retire after 33 years with the airline.
On taking up the role on 17 November, Black will report to Mike Thompson, SkyWest Airlines COO, and will be responsible for the safe and compliant operation of all SkyWest stations and contracted stations, coordinating the development and implementation of operational procedures and policies. He will oversee more than 3,400 customer service employees located in 59 SkyWest-operated stations. He will also oversee ground equipment, corporate real estate, station personnel training and customer relations.
Black has been at SkyWest for more than 23 years, most recently as managing director–safety and Quality, a position in which he oversaw the airline's progress and transition to a Safety Management System (SMS) and continued to enhance the airline's safety culture.
