WestJet has appointed Cheryl Smith as its new executive vice-president and chiefinformation officer.
Smith comes to WestJet from Smith and Associates in Virginia, USA, where she leads a team of information technology experts. She will join WestJet shortly, pending completion of immigration formalities.
Smith brings to WestJet more than 30 years’ experience in information technology implementation, infrastructure and operation in a number of industries including energy, telecommunications, manufacturing, health care and consulting.

"As WestJet continues to grow and forge new partnerships around the world and evolve its business model, the development, implementation and operation of information management systems is mission-critical to our success."
Smith has served in executive roles in Fortune 500 companies, including McKesson Corp, as well as holding senior leadership positions at Ernst & Young, Honeywell Federal Systems, Verizon and KeySpan Energy.
