MRO Europe 2015: Flybe signs GMA with ATR

Flybe has signed a six year Global Maintenance Agreement (GMA) with ATR for five 72-600 aircraft – which it operates on domestic and regional routes for Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) – to help reduce maintenance costs while receiving OEM expertise.Under the contract, ATR will provide Flybe with comprehensive technical support for its 72-600s including complete management of the spare parts inventory on lease at the airline’s premises, propellers maintenance and availability and repair and overhaul of line replaceable units (LRUs) including landing gear and fuel nozzles.The carrier will benefit from quick access to a comprehensive pool supply offering upfront exchanges and spares availability which ATR will deliver directly to Flybe’s main base. To date, nearly 60% of the total ATR-600 aircraft fleet worldwide are covered by a GMA.The first 72-600 entered service with SAS in September, with the airline due to incorporate four more into the carrier’s network between 2016 and 2017.“We are delighted to be extending our partnership so early into the relationship, and it bodes well for a positive future together,” remarked Luke Farajallah, Flybe’s COO.“We thank Flybe for the trust they have placed in ATR, and we are fully committed in providing our expert support to ensure operational performance of Flybe’s ATR 72-600 aircraft,” said Tom Anderson, SVP commercial and customer support, ATR. “It clearly demonstrates that ATR is able to offer the highest level of service and reliability at best possible cost.”
