Mitsubishi Aircraft Corporation and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries have announced that the first test aircraft (FTA-1) of the Mitsubishi Regional Jet (MRJ) has completed its ferry flight to the US.
FTA-1 took off from Nagoya Airfield at 13:28 on 26 September 2016 (JST) and arrived at Grant County International Airport in Washington at 09:44 on 29 September 2016 (JST).
Mitsubishi will now carry out frequent flight tests in the US to accelerate the development of the MRJ towards its scheduled type certificate acquisition in 2018.
Mitsubishi Aircraft Corporation and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries are developing the MRJ with the assistance of three engineering bases: The Moses Lake Flight Test Center within Grant County International Airport; Seattle Engineering Center and Mitsubishi Aircraft Headquarters in Japan.
