easyJet has added a new social sharing feature to its mobile app after recording more than 750,000 downloads since the app, developed in partnership with Dublin-based Mobile Travel Technologies, was launched in December.
The new social sharing features enable users to post their bookings straight onto popular social networking sites as well as email all the flight information to everyone else on the booking straight from the app. It also sends a helpful reminder to passengers to check in shortly before their flight.
“We are delighted with the feedback the app has had from customers – earning predominantly 5-star ratings by consumers,” remarked Peter Duffy, marketing director for easyJet. “We know that when customers book their flights they are often keen to share the news with their travelling companions and friends online so we are sure the new social sharing features will be popular. We continue to work on future innovations.”
Gerry Samuels, founder and executive director of Mobile Travel Technologies, added, “The easyJet mobile apps prove that if you invest in robust apps and an exceptional user experience you can generate significant revenue through mobile commerce.”
easyJet reports that its passengers are using mobile for both business and leisure travel. The majority of mobile bookings are made less than 20 days in advance, with a significant number of bookings being made for next day travel, but some passengers are booking 10 or more months in advance.
