Mark Porter appointed WestJet’s EVP people and culture

From 26 October, WestJet will have a new executive vice-president of people and culture in Mark Porter.Porter joins WestJet from Shaw Communications where he was the senior vice-president of human resources for almost 10 years. Porter’s other experience includes roles as chief people officer with Molson Canada and a variety of engineering and human resource positions with Bombardier Aerospace across more than 15 years.“I welcome Mark to the WestJet family and look forward to having him lead this vital role for WestJet,” averred Gregg Saretsky, WestJet’s president and CEO. “Our people are our competitive edge and Mark's deep experience and knowledge of the human resources field will assist us greatly as we continue to grow and our business becomes more complex.”Porter added, “There aren't many companies in any field that celebrate their people as WestJet does and I'm honoured and excited to join the team and contribute to what is already an award-winning culture.
