Canadian start-up Sky Regional Airlines has selected Lufthansa Technik for its component supply for the next ten years, with the companies having signed a Total Component Support TCS agreement for the fleet of five Bombardier Q400s.
The start-up carrier is Lufthansa Technik’s first Q400-customer in North America.
Lufthansa Technik has installed a home base pool in Montreal. More than 110 line replaceable units (LRU) – ranging from hydraulic pumps up to generators – will be in storage for a smooth operation. The components will be overhauled at Lufthansa Technik sites in Sun Valley, USA and Hamburg, Germany.
Pat Melen, director of maintenance at Sky Regional Airlines, explained, "Sky Regional Airlines is proud to be a partner with such a respected organisation and feel that this component contract will enhance our on time performance of the Q400’s we operate."
Sky Regional Airlines will begin operation on 1 May 2011 flying Montreal–Toronto–Montreal.
