Lufthansa Technik (LT) has increased its LEAP-1A engine spare parts inventory with the addition of cowlings and thrust reversers.

The large components are located in Frankfurt, Germany, and can be provided worldwide to customers on loan or exchange for immediate AOG (aircraft-on-ground) support, says LT. Further cowlings and thrust reversers would be available via a mutual support agreement with other suppliers.

“A spare nacelle set of inlet cowl, fan cowls, and thrust reversers can be a considerable investment for airlines at such an early age of the aircraft. With a spare parts pool, we can make a better and more economic choice available to our customers,” said Michael Kirstein, senior director aircraft systems.

By investing in further spare parts and expanding its pool, LT says it is responding to the rapidly growing Airbus A320neo fleet equipped with CFM International’s LEAP-1A engines. The fleet is expected to grow by more than 300 aircraft annually.
