LinksAir has been awarded a new four-year contract to operate the North–South Wales air service between Cardiff Airport and Anglesey Airport.
The carrier will operate two daily return flights but at new times to allow for a longer working day at both destinations. The new contract commencing on 10 December 2014 will run until December 2018.
Initially the schedule will 07:40 and 16:25 departures from Cardiff to Anglesey on Monday to Thursday, with 07:40 and 15:25 flights on Fridays, arriving at 08:35 and 17:20 (16:20 on Fridays). The return service will leave Anglesey at 08:55 and 17:40 on weekdays (16:40 on Fridays) arriving in Cardiff at 0950 and 18:35 (1735 on Fridays).
In Spring 2015, LinksAir will introduce an earlier 07:25 Cardiff departure, arriving at Anglesey Airport at 08:20. The return to Cardiff will depart at 0840 and arrive in Cardiff at 0935, which combined with the later afternoon departure will offer an extra 35 minutes a day.
LinksAir’s commercial manager, Roger Hage, commented, “We are delighted to have been appointed by the Welsh Government to now both operate and sell this vital economic Wales air link, allowing us to add a combination of low fares, flexibility in booking, quality service and new routes in the new year to add to the Cardiff–Anglesey (RAF Valley) service.”
