Lufthansa Technik and Wizz Air have expanded their relationship with the addition of a five-year contract covering around 150 C-checks on more than 80 Airbus A320s to be carried out by Lufthansa Technik Budapest.
In the hangar of Lufthansa Technik Budapest at Ferihegy Airport, four narrowbody aircraft can undergo a C-check simultaneously in two hangar bays. In both docks the aircraft can be painted on the spot without being pulled into a special painting hangar, saving time and money. Numerous workshops, for example for non destructive testing, cabin interiors or flight controls, are also located on the company’s premises with more than 12,000 sq m.
“We are pleased with our long standing co-operation with Lufthansa Technik and its Budapest team. The new contract is in line with our cost expectation and secures the needed level of expertise and flexibility for our growing fleet. The Budapest facility of Lufthansa Technik, centrally located within the Wizz Air network, allows for easy access to the whole fleet and thus further contributing to efficiency that is so indispensable for our business," explained József Váradi, chief executive officer of Wizz Air.
The recently signed agreement carries forward a long and successful relationship that dates back to the very beginning of the carrier’s operations in 2004. In addition to an exclusive Total Component Support TCS for Wizz Air’s entire fleet signed in 2009, Lufthansa Technik is already providing engineering services for the airline as well as line maintenance, also carried out at Lufthansa Technik Budapest.
