US Airways has announced preliminary traffic figures for its wholly-owned regional airline subsidiaries, Piedmont Airlines and PSA Airlines, covering June 2011 and the first half of the calendar year (1H11).
Revenue passenger miles (RPMs) in June rose by 2.4% to 205,599,000 from June 2010’s figure of 200,833,000. Available seat miles (ASMs), though, were cut slightly – by 0.8% – to 267,698,000 from 269,925,000 for the respective periods.
These figures created an average load factor of 76.8% in June, 2.4 percentage points higher than the 74.4% achieved in June 2010. The total number of passengers carried in June was 703,240, a decrease of 1.7% compared with the 715,568 carried in June last year.
In 1H11, RPMs rose by 10.8% to 1,133,008,000 from 1,022,821,000 in 1H10. ASMs were increased by 6.3% to 1,580,692,000 from 1,487,007,000. The average load factor for 1H11 was 71.7%, up by 2.9 pp from the 68.8% of 1H10.
Passengers carried in 1H11 totalled 3,873,695, an increase of 3.1% over 1H10’s total of 3,756,672.
