Virgin America has announced its preliminary traffic results for June 2014 and the first six months of the year.
Revenue passenger miles (RPMs) totalled 952,059,000 in June, up 0.5% on the 947,667,000 recorded last June. Available seat miles were cut by 0.9% to 1,105,535,000 from 1,115,807,000 in June 2013.
June’s load factor was 86.1%, an increase of 1.2 percentage points over last June’s 84.9%. The airline carried 591 thousand passengers in June, 2.4% fewer than the 606 thousand carried last June.
In the first half of 2014 (1H14) Virgin America flew 4,917,447,000 RPMs, an increase of 2.3% over the 4,805,500,000 RPMs flown in 1H13. ASMs rose by 0.5% to 5,978,971,000 from 5,947,876,000 in the same period last year.
The load factor in 1H14 was 82.2% compared with 80.8% in 1H13, a 1.5 pp increase. The rounded number of passengers carried in 1H14 was 3,208,000, which was 4.6% more than the 3,068,000 carried in 1H13.
