JetBlue Airways has reported its preliminary traffic results for October 2010.
The airline generated 2,334,690,000 revenue passenger miles (RPMs), up 15.7% on last October’s 2,017,030,000. Capacity, in available seat miles was increased by 13.2% to 2,825,932,000 from 2,496,889,000.
The load factor thus rose by 1.8 percentage points to 82.6% in October 2010 compared with last October’s 80.8%. JetBlue carried 2,009,186 revenue passengers, 16.4% more than in October 2009 when it transported 1,726,752 passengers.
JetBlue’s preliminary passenger revenue per available seat mile (PRASM) for October increased 9% year-over-year. "Available seat miles were higher than anticipated, which negatively impacted October PRASM results by approximately one percentage point," explained Ed Barnes, JetBlue’s CFO. "As we head into the peak holiday travel period, we continue to be optimistic about the revenue environment."
