JetBlue reports December 2011 and full-year traffic data

JetBlue Airways has announced its preliminary traffic results for December 2011 and for the full calendar year.

Revenue passenger miles (RPMs) in December increased by 14.3% to 2,703,140,000 from 2,363,988,000 in December 2010. Available seat miles (ASMs) totalled 3,371,201,000, an increase of 17.1% over December 2010’s figure of 2,879,697,000.

The load factor for December 2011 was 80.2%, a decrease of 1.9 percentage points from December 2010’s 82.1%. In total 2,335,186 revenue passengers were carried in December 2011, compared with 2,040,267 in December 2010, a 14.5% increase.

RPMs for the whole of 2011 totalled 30,697,903,000, an 8.6% increase over 2010’s figure of 28,279,450,000. ASMs however, increased by only 7.2% to 37,232,367,000 from 34,743,749,000.

The load factor thus rose by 1 pp to 82.4% from 81.4% in 2010. Revenue passengers carried in 2011 totalled 26,370,318, which was 8.7% more than the 24,253,933 carried in 2010.
