JetBlue March and 1st quarter traffic announced

JetBlue Airways has reported its preliminary traffic results for March 2010 and the first quarter of the year.

Revenue passenger miles (RPMs) in March increased 9.1% to 2,452,100,000 from March 2009’s figure of 2,246,667,000, while available seat miles (ASMs) increased by 6.4% to 3,015,640,000 from 2,834,870,000 for the respective months.

The load factor for March 2010 was 81.3%, an increase of 2.0 points from March 2009’s 79.3%. Revenue passengers carried totalled 2,115,845 in March compared with 1,979,981 in March last year, a 6.9% increase.

JetBlue’s preliminary passenger revenue per available seat mile (RASM) for the month of March increased by 17% year over year.

In the first three months of 2010, RPMs grew by 7.1% to 6,469,975,000 from 6,039,506,000 in 1Q09. ASMs were increased by 6.1% to 8,423,620,000 from 7,942,489,000 in the same period last year.

The load factor in 1Q10 went up slightly – by 0.8 pp – to 76.8% from 76.0% in 1Q09, while revenue passengers carried rose 4.5% to 5,528,333 from 5,290,880 for the respective periods.
