JetBlue announces March and 1st quarter traffic stats

JetBlue Airways has reported its preliminary traffic results for March 2016 and for the first quarter of the calendar year (1Q16).

Revenue passenger miles (RPMs) in March 2016 totalled 3,965,162,000, compared with 3,537,850,000 in March 2015, an increase of 12.1%. Available seat miles (ASMs) increased by 12.5% to 4,567,104,000 from 4,057,967,000 for the respective months.

The load factor for March 2016 was 86.8%, a decrease of 0.4 points from March 2015’s 87.2%. JetBlue carried 3,309,300 revenue passengers in March 2016, which was 10.4% more than the 2,998,769 carried last March.

In 1Q16, RPMs rose by 14.1% to 10,975,527,000 from 1Q15’s figure of 9,621,615,000, while ASMs went up respectively to 13,028,581,000 from 11,418,652,000, also a 14.1% increase. The load factor in 1Q16 dropped slightly, by 0.1 pp, to 84.2% from 1Q15’s 84.3%. The airline carried 9,118,663 revenue passengers in 1Q16, compared with 8,094,846 in 1Q15, a 12.6% increase.
