JetBlue announces March and 1Q11 traffic figures

JetBlue Airways has announced its preliminary traffic results for March 2011 and the first quarter of the year.

In March, revenue passenger miles (RPMs) totalled 2,626,257,000 compareed with 2,452,100,000 in March 2010, a 7.1% increase. Available seat miles (ASMs) were up 4.2% to 3,142,800,000 from 3,015,640,000 for the respective periods.

The load factor in March was 83.6%, a rise of 2.3 percentage points over last March’s 81.3%. Revenue passengers carried numbered 2,306,228, which was 9.0% more than the 2,115,845 carried in March 2010.

In 1Q11, RPMs were up by 7.0% at 6,923,700,000 compared with 6,469,975,000 in 1Q10. ASMs were increased only slightly – by 1.0% – to 8,510,811,000 from 8,423,620,000 for the respective quarters.

These figures brought a 4.6 pp increase in load factor to 81.4% in 1Q11 from 76.8% in 1Q10. The total revenue passengers also increased, by 9.2%, to 6,038,693 from 5,528,333 for the respective quarters.
