JetBlue Airways is to begin twice-daily nonstop jet service between Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood (FLL) and Jacksonville International (JAX) airports on 29 October 2014.
This is also the date when previously announced new nonstop services between Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood and Cartagena, Las Vegas, and Pittsburgh are scheduled to start.
JetBlue has committed to expand this South Florida ‘BlueCity’ to 100 daily departures by 2017. With the addition of Cartagena, Jacksonville, Las Vegas, and Pittsburgh, JetBlue will offer up to 80 daily departures and 33 nonstop destinations from FLL.
Dave Clark, vice-president, network planning, JetBlue Airways, commented, “This new route will provide business and leisure travellers with affordable non-stop full-size jet service between these two vibrant cities. Additionally, Jacksonville customers will now have the ability to conveniently connect in Fort Lauderdale to destinations throughout the United States, Latin America and the Caribbean.”
Flights from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood depart at 07:00 and 18:55, arriving in Jacksonville at 08:14 and 20:09 respectively. In the opposite direction, flights leave Jacksonville at 08:00 and 18:45, touching down respectively in Fort Lauderdale at 09:14 and 19:59 (all times local).
Flights on the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood–Jacksonville routes will be operated by JetBlue’s Embraer 190s.
