IndiGo is partnering with CTC Aviation to launch a new airline pilot career programme to train its future pilots.
The IndiGo cadet pilot programme will result in successful applicants achieving a dual – NZCAA and Indian DGCA – licence upon graduation before the opportunity to become a Junior First Officer (JFO) with IndiGo. Successful candidates will join a full-time training programme at CTC Aviation’s Crew Training Centre in Hamilton, New Zealand.
Training will be delivered on CTC Aviation’s fleet of next generation Diamond DA20, DA40 and DA42 EFIS- and TAS-equipped aircraft. Chosen to prepare trainee pilots fully for airline operations, the specification of these aircraft closely align with the Airbus A320 that the pilots will operate in airline service.
On successful completion of their Multi Engine Commercial Pilot’s Licence and Instrument Rating training (CPL/MEIR), the newly qualified pilots will return to India to complete their Indian DGCA flight licence conversion training under the guidance of CTC Aviation before commencing the advanced, Airbus A320 type rating ahead of starting operations as an IndiGo Junior First Officer.
Applicants will complete a bespoke, two-phase selection process prior to commencing training. Phase one is an online application form requesting information to ensure applicants meet both IndiGo and CTC Aviation’s entry criteria. Successful applicants will be invited to attend the second and final phase of the assessment process – a selection event designed to assess the individual’s technical and non-technical skills and run by a combined team of both CTC Aviation and IndiGo’s experienced airline assessors in Delhi.
Successful candidates will enter into an agreement with IndiGo as a “Cadet Pilot” and on obtaining a DGCA Commercial Pilot Licence, the Cadet Pilot will be paid an enhanced monthly stipend.
CTC Aviation has supported IndoGo’s command training for the past 4 years. This new bespoke programme for the foreseeable future will have an initial intake of 36 aspiring aviators. Together with IndiGo, the CTC Aviation team will be hosting a series of events around India for interested parties to learn more about this opportunity. Events will be taking place in Mumbai on 2 July; Delhi on 3 July; Hyderabad on 9 July and Bangalore on 10 July 2016.
