Iberia Express begins Birmingham–Madrid flights

Birmingham Airport has welcomed the inaugural flight of a new service by Iberia Express serving four weekly flights to and from Madrid on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

All services carry also British Airways codes and members of Iberia Plus programme as well as BA’s Executive Club can earn and redeem Avios when they fly with Iberia Express.

The Birmingham flights are scheduled to offer the best connections from Madrid to another 34 Iberia Group destinations, such as Dakar, Buenos Aires, Havana, Mexico City, Montevideo, Santiago de Chile, and São Paulo.

Iberia Express will operate 177 seat Airbus A320s on the Birmingham service, with business and economy sections. Flights from Madrid depart at 08:45 (Mondays and Fridays) and 15:45 (Wednesday and Sundays), arriving in Birmingham at 10:00 and 17:00 respectively on their respective operating days. From Birmingham, the Monday and Friday flights depart at 10:35 and arrive in Madrid at 14:05. On Wednesdays and Sundays take off is at 17:35 with touchdown in Madrid at 21:05. All times are local.

Birmingham Airport chief executive Paul Kehoe commented, “Not only is this great news as it increases capacity to Madrid, but Iberia Express is also a oneworld alliance airline and BA codeshare carrier, giving travellers enormous benefits.

“This is our 11th new airline to recently launch so we’re delighted that Iberia Express has also recognised the extensive business and leisure market in our region, and we welcome the strong Iberia brand to our growing network of airlines,” added Kehoe.
