Horizon Air has announced preliminary traffic figures for both March 2010 and the first quarter of the calendar year.
The carrier reported a 3.8 percentage point increase in load factor to 73.3% in March 2010, compared to 69.5% in March 2009. This came from a 6.6% increase in revenue passenger miles (RPMs) to 204 million from 191 million and a 1.0% increase in available seat miles (ASMs) to 278 million from 276 million in March 2010 and March 2009 respectively.
During March 2010, Horizon carried 566,000 passengers, 1.4% more than the 558,000 carried in March 2009.
RPMs for the first quarter (1Q10) totalled 566 million compared with 524 million in 1Q09, an 8.0% increase. ASMs grew by only 0.8% to 793 million from 787 million in the respective periods.
The quarterly load factor thus rose by 4.8 pp to 71.4% in 1Q10 from 1Q09’s figure of 66.6%. Also over the respective periods, the total number of revenue passengers increased by 2.5% to 1,584 million from 1,546 million.
