Honeywell has been chosen by Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC) to provide the wheels and brakes, brake control system (BCS), and tyres for the new C919 aircraft family.
“Honeywell’s integration of the complete pedal-to-ground solution will ensure a smooth entry into service for COMAC’s C919,” said Mark Howes, president of Honeywell Aerospace, Asia Pacific. “Honeywell’s carbon brake solution will provide increased operational performance for C919 operators [and] will reduce aircraft weight, which translates into decreased operating costs from a lower fuel burn and a longer brake life.”
Honeywell operates 10 facilities throughout China, including aerospace maintenance and manufacturing facilities in Xiamen, Nanjing, Suzhou, and Shanghai. The Asia-Pacific business is based in Shanghai.
Honeywell is collaborating on the COMAC C919 pedal-to-ground solution with Hunan Boyun New Materials and Changsha Xinhang Wheel & Brake Company. A joint venture will be formed to provide the wheels and braking system for the C919.
