Hamilton Sundstrand Corporation and AVIC Electromechanical Systems Company (AVIC EM) have finalised their plans to co-develop and manufacture the electric power system for the new Commercial Aviation Corporation of China (COMAC) C919 aircraft family.
The two companies announced a framework agreement for the joint venture at the Zhuhai Air Show in November, 2010. This agreement finalises the commitment to form a new company that will develop and manufacture the C919’s electrical power system, including generation and distribution, and will serve as a tier one supplier to COMAC on that programme. This joint venture will be located in Xi’an and plans are in place to begin facility development in June, 2011.
AVIC EM designs and produces a wide range of aerospace airborne systems and products for both the Chinese and international markets.
