The Indonesian low-fare airline Citilink has introduced Inmarsat’s GX Aviation in-flight broadband on its first aircraft.

The installation comes six months after Inmarsat signed a contract with wireless technology provider Mahata Aero Teknologi (MAT) to deploy GX Aviation across Citilink’s fleet of Airbus A320 aircraft, in partnership with Lufthansa Systems, Lufthansa Technik and GMF AeroAsia.

The in-flight internet service will allow Citilink passengers to browse the internet, stream content and check social media for free using personal devices.

The airline will continue to rollout the service on their aircraft during 2019.

Juliandra Nurtjahjo, president and CEO of Citilink, said the airline is “delighted” the service is live on the first aircraft, adding: “This makes Citilink the first low-cost carrier in the Asia Pacific region to offer this next generation in-flight wi-fi solution. We look forward to continuing the rollout at full pace in 2019.”
