GE Aviation has won a 15-year, $360 million OnPoint solution contract from SkyWest Airlines to support the carrier’s 150 CF34-8C5B1 engines that power its Bombardier CRJ700s.
“SkyWest Airlines depends on the reliability of GE’s CF34 engines to operate more than 1,600 flights every day,” noted Russell ‘Chip’ Childs, SkyWest Airlines president and COO.
“This OnPoint solution agreement for material will allow SkyWest Airlines to benefit from OEM material and support to ensure its engines retain their high performance capabilities and stay on wing longer,” said Paul McElhinney, president and chief executive officer for GE Aviation’s Services organisation.
OnPoint solutions are customised service agreements tailored to the operational and financial needs of each customer for any size fleet. The agreements are designed to help lower the customers’ cost of ownership and maximise the use of their assets. OnPoint services may include overhaul, on-wing support, new and used-serviceable parts, component repair, technology upgrades, engine leasing, integrated systems support and diagnostics and integrated systems.
