Frontier announces December and full 2012 traffic

Frontier Airlines has reported preliminary traffic results for December 2012 and for the whole of the calendar year.

In December, Frontier’s revenue passenger miles (RPMs) decreased by 10% to 933,164,000 from 1,040,748,000. Available seat miles (ASMs) were cut by 12% to 1,069,737,000 from 1,219,821,000.

Frontier’s load factor thus increased by 2 percentage points from December 2011 to 87%. The airline carried 1,018,832 passengers in December 2012, compared with the 1,178,370 carried 12 months previously, a drop of 14%.

Over the whole of 2012, RPMs totalled 12,108,734,000, compared with 12,899,243,000 in 2011, a decrease of 6%. ASMs were cut by 8% to 13,773,708,000 from 15,036,619,000.

These results created a 2 percentage point increase in the load factor taking 2012’s figure to 88% from the 86% achieved in 2011. The number of passengers carried during the year fell by 11% to 13,246,109 from 14,937,983 in 2011.
