flypop has unveiled its new corporate HQ at Stansted Airport.

The airline intends to launch a non-stop service to two of India’s key cities – Amritsar, Punjab and Ahmedabad, Gujarat – from London Stansted Airport when it launches.

Direct train links from Stansted to London’s Liverpool Street station makes it easily accessible from the capital where there are also trains links from the airport to Leicester and Birmingham.

The airline is targeting the growing visiting friends and relatives (VFR) market within the Indian and South Asian diaspora many of whom live within a two-hour drive of Stansted.

flypop is also looking at other regional UK airports to operate a service to India and South Asia including the East Midland and Birmingham Airports. Today, around 500,000 seats a month link India and the UK, either directly or indirectly, but the market is growing rapidly thanks to India’s increasing prosperity and industrial development. The airline is hoping to start with a passenger feed agreement with one of the major LCC that operate out of Stansted to Europe.

The company has just closed a successful Seed Round fund raise of £100,000. For it’s final regulatory funding round, it has so far received commitments for £2 million. The carrier plans to raise a total of £6 million by the end of 2019.
