Global Eagle Entertainment (GEE)’s AIRCONNECT broadband and satellite connectivity system has been chosen by flydubai for installation on its fleet of Boeing 737-800s.
flydubai and GEE claim that this will be the industry's first provision of a bundled solution of inflight connectivity, in-seat IFE content and a provision for operations data, all from a single provider. GEE will also introduce a new capability which updates the media content on the carrier’s Lumexis in-seat IFE system via the AIRCONNECT connectivity system.
GEE already supplies inflight media content to flydubai and this new deal builds on that relationship. The integrated IFE and connectivity package will offer WiFi-enabled internet, a library of stored content, and other media delivered to passengers’ own devices. GEE will support ancillary revenue generation via the sale of advertising and sponsorships, and will manage billing and payment processing.
"GEE's solution, which we are deploying across our fleet, will bring a new level of connectivity to our passengers," remarked Ghaith Al Ghaith, CEO, flydubai. "With an integrated inflight entertainment, connectivity and digital media system, we are able to provide the highest standards and latest innovations of inflight services to our passengers and enhance their onboard experience."
