AJW Group has been awarded a power-by-the-hour (PBH) contract with the Argentinian low-fare start-up airline Flybondi covering its expanding fleet of Boeing B737-800 aircraft.

The long-term contract will see AJW manage the complete supply, repair and overhaul of Flybondi’s rotable components. Launched earlier this year, the first budget carrier in Argentina will operate across 85 domestic and international routes.

Christopher Whiteside, president and CEO of AJW Group, said the group was “delighted” to have been awarded the contract. He said: “The carrier will be going through a prolonged phase of growth with the acquisition of new aircraft and team members.”

He added that during this period, the experience of AJW’s team and high standards delivered by the technicians will be “instrumental in supporting Flybondi with that growth.” He continued: “For AJW Group, the contract is a great step forward in bolstering our presence in Latin America and we look forward to improving efficiency and offering cost-savings to additional carriers in the region.”

Julian Cook, CEO of Flybondi, said: “As a company focused on optimising our processes to ensure success, this new partnership with AJW Group will see us united in our mutual values. The long-term contract will enable AJW to revolutionise our processes and provide the efficiency for our customers that we, as Argentina’s first low-cost carrier, pride ourselves on.”
