Flybe has entered into a codeshare relationship with airberlin, under which airberlin will place its marketing code on Flybe routes from Birmingham, Cardiff, Doncaster, Manchester and Southampton to Germany, as well as to Flybe’s new intra-European routes from Hannover to Lyon and Milan which launched on 1 August 2016.
The new agreement is part of Flybe’s plan to provide convenient connections for business and leisure travellers from regional markets, allowing them to travel to as broad a range of destinations as possible from their local airport. It has the additional benefit of providing access for Flybe to airberlin’s strong brand, network and distribution presence in Germany and Europe more broadly, and to support growth in the German point of sale on these important routes.“Flybe’s new codeshare agreement with airberlin expands the reach of both airlines. It strengthens Flybe’s ‘One Stop to the World’ proposition for its regional customers in the UK who will benefit from connections to airberlin’s long-haul routes at Düsseldorf and Berlin-Tegel,” explained Saad Hammad, Flybe’s CEO. “The agreement also enables Flybe to expand its sales and distribution to European regional customers. airberlin benefits from enhancing its route offering to the UK for its customers in Germany and from the carriage of UK customers on its long-haul routes. This is an exciting win–win agreement.”The deal builds upon Flybe’s current portfolio of codeshare partnerships with Aer Lingus, Air France, Air India, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Emirates, Etihad, Finnair and Virgin Atlantic.
