Malaysian regional airline Firefly signed a three-year-contract with Lufthansa Systems (LSY) for the use of Lido/FMS (flight management system).
The FMS database contains all important route information including altitude and airport data for optimising routes and supporting autopilots on board modern aircraft. The navigation data, based on global aeronautical information, are updated every 28 days according the AIRAC cycle and can be customised to specific routes and for the use in any type of aircraft. The FMS database also contains important data to ensure the most efficient engine power levels, ultimately resulting in fuel savings.
Firefly, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Malaysia Airlines, has a fleet of ATR 72-500s and Boeing 737s and serves 21 regional destinations across southeast Asia.
