Germania Group has followed its 2010 order for five Airbus A320 family aircraft by ordering 25 A320neo aircraft and taking options of a further 15 of the same model.
Deliveries of the new aircraft – fitted with 180 seats and powered by Pratt & Whitney’s PurePower PW100G-JM Geared Turbofan engines – will be gradual from 2020 onwards: ten jets will be delivered in the first half of 2020, with five further aircraft planned for 2021 and the remaining 10 will be delivered in 2022. As the fleet is renewed with these aircraft, aeroplanes which are currently foreign-leased will leave Germania‘s fleet first. Thereafter, the new Airbus aircraft will replace the Boeing aeroplanes which Germania currently operates. On completion of the deliveries, the Group will have an all-Airbus fleet.
Karsten Balke, Germania’s chief executive officer, commented, “In our quest for highly modern and efficient aircraft, we are relying on our established and trusted partnership with Airbus. The order of 25 A320neos, fitted with the latest engines from Pratt & Whitney, provides a solid foundation for Germania’s future business development. By implementing the most recent technology and unifying our fleet we expect considerable synergies.”
