Agamemnon Kikerakis, chairman and CEO of Sky Express; and Gustaf Thureborn, CEO and president of West Atlantic; have been elected to the European Regions Airline Association (ERA) board.
“The experience of Agamemnon Kikerakis and Gustaf Thureborn will further enhance what is already an influential and skilled board,” remarked Simon McNamara, director general, ERA. “Their contribution to ERA will be invaluable in a year that marks the launch of the association’s strategy for defining and
supporting regional aviation in Europe.”
Kikerakis was appointed CEO of Sky Express in 2012 and, under his leadership, it has weathered the Greek financial crisis to maintain its profitability. “I believe that the ERA board can help regional airlines by sharing their experience of how to implement good and proven market practices and avoid mistakes,” Kikerakis stated. “This advice will be invaluable to companies when they are assessing their business strategies and searching for niche and profitable models as market consolidation increases and challenges their survival.”
Thureborn has been key in transforming the West Air Group into a major force in the European regional cargo airline business, continuing to expand its network despite overcapacity. “I am delighted to be joining the board of ERA after 18 years of membership of the association and look forward to working with ERA on the many challenges that face the European regional aviation industry,” declared Thureborn.
