The European Regions Airline Association (ERA) has appointed Montserrat Barriga as its new director general.
Barriga will take up her position on 1 November 2017. She previously worked for ERA member airline Binter as director, international development and industry affairs, and has substantial experience within the aviation industry. She said: “I am delighted and honoured to have been appointed as the new director general of ERA and I hope to meet most of ERA’s members at the forthcoming ERA General Assembly in Athens. ERA is a well-established and respected association and I look forward to continuing the great work carried out on behalf of its diverse members in the future.”
Boet Kreiken, ERA’s president, said that Barriga brings “a wealth of knowledge from the regional airline industry and the corporate travel/leisure business.” Kreiken continued: “She has the right experience required in a dynamic European aviation arena to take ERA forward to the next stage of its development and to further enhance the success of its many members in the European community, in the UK and of Europe en-large.
“Regional carriers play a vital role for European regions, cities and islands. With their point-to-point and feeder services, they serve millions of passengers in a safe, highly frequent and affordable way. ERA is a long-standing European airline association and with Monserrat’s appointment, we further strengthen our genuine European purpose and diversity”.
