easyJet starts selling London Southend routes

easyJet has announced five more destinations that it will operate to and from London Southend Airport from April 2012, adding Amsterdam, Alicante, Belfast, Malaga and Mallorca to the previously-announced Barcelona, Faro and Ibiza, with tickets available now.

With up to 70 flights a week, passengers will be able to experience the airline’s newest UK base, which is just a minute’s walk from a new train station with quick links into London Liverpool Street station and Stratford station.

Catherine Lynn, easyJet’s customer and revenue director, commented, “This is an exciting time to be launching our routes from our newest UK base. The airport is in a fantastic location just outside London with a fast rail link into the city. Through offering easy and affordable travel, we expect the new routes to appeal to customers in Essex and London looking for a convenient new departure point for many top European destinations. We also believe that the European city links, such as Amsterdam, Belfast and Barcelona, will also attract a high number of inbound business and leisure passengers to London next summer.”

London Southend Airport managing director, Alastair Welch, added, “The announcement of the routes really brings to life the exciting development of London Southend Airport. easyJet passengers will experience the state-of-the-art terminal and easy access to the dedicated railway station. With up to eight train services an hour to Stratford and to London Liverpool Street, this is an exciting prospect for both people wanting to visit London and those travelling to the region on holiday or business next year.”
